Frequently Asked Questions

Technical FAQ

Why is my aircraft not shown in the fleet list?

It may not be contained in our database due to various reasons (recent delivery, lease, aso.) Please try to locate your aircraft by means of the six-digit ICAO ID.

I am sure my aircraft is upgraded to MOPS 2? Why is it shown as non-compliant?

MOPS 2 equipage does not automatically mean full compliance. Please check your aircraft's detailed data for deviation details from MOPS 2 requirements. Typically these are GPS or dimension data not entered, single antenna operations, TCAS status not correct, etc.

What does the classification of "major" and "minor" deviations mean?

MOPS 2 equipage does not automatically mean full compliance. If items are not correctly programmed in the transponder or transmitted erroneous this may result in a deviation from the EU or U.S. mandate or both. The following classifications are used, which are inofficial:
"major deviations":
- "NIC" less than 5 (EU) or less than 7 (U.S.)
- "NACp" less than 7 (EU) or less than 8 (U.S.)
- "NACv" less than 1
- "SDA" less than 2
- "SIL" less than 3
- "Aircraft category" not transmitted or set to A0 or B0
- "Emergency status" not transmitted
- "ADS-B-in 1090ES status" not reported (U.S. only)
- "UAT-in status" not reported (U.S. only)
- "Selected altitude" not reported or erroneous (EU only); for aircraft that are not equipped with an autopilot this deviation can be ignored
"minor deviations":
- "Single antenna" operations (EU only). There seem to be different implementations of this flag. This subject is under investigation.
- "NIC" less than 6 (EU only)
- "SSR code 1000" is not surpressed (EU only)
- "GPS antenna offset data not set" (EU only). This item must be manually set in the transponder.
- "Aircraft dimensions not set" (EU only). This item must be manually set in the transponder.

Why are there other operators aircraft in my fleet list?

Aircrafts on long term lease are listed under the lessee, if known.

Why do emitter category and NIC values change from time to time?

This is under investigation for category changes from/to "A0" and NIC changes to/from "0". At this time we assume that some aircraft are equipped with two transponders with different settings. NIC changes after than to/from "0", i.e. between adjacent values are a normal system response to alterations in GPS position accuracy.

Why seem TCAS and Antenna Diversity flag show wrong states?

This seems to be an irregular transmission mode of some transponder families on specific aircraft type. Known problems exist on B737, B38M and A20N aircraft families. In rare cases some transponders correctly show TCAS and Antenna Diversity flags as "0", when on the ground. However, the transponder ground flag may not have been properly received and therefore this state is processed as an airborne state. We protect such false updates by geo-fencing the TCAS and Antenna Diversity flags when on the surface, which should eliminate these false states in future.

Why is my aircraft not surface monitored?

Our ground station network is constantly growing. For surface coverage the number of stations is currently limited. Your aircraft may not have visited a covered airport in the past.

My aircraft has a high NIC. Why is it not compliant?
Why is my good NIC value underlaid with a light green only?

ADS-B MOPS 0 and 1 aircraft cannot be compliant despite a high position accuracy. Users that do not rely on certified transponder data may consider to use position data from high NIC transponders for their informational purposes, though.

Why are many of the detailed data not available for MOPS 0 and 1?

These MOPS version transponders do not transmit most of the detailed data items, therefore they are omitted.

What is the geographical service range of this service?

Currently our service is focussed on the EU and U.S. mandates and therefore ground stations are located across Europe, U.S. and Pacific Rim.

Service FAQ

Why do I need to register?

Individual aircraft and fleet data are not available for public access, but for eligible users only. If you are working for an ANSP, aircraft operator, authority/regulator, MRO we assume your eligibility, if your e-mail address is identical to the company's account.
If you are a third party user (airport company, technical data provider, etc.) we require that you explain usage of compliance data within your organization, so we can approve access.

How does registration work?

After registration application is completed you will receive an e-mail. Please confirm receipt of this e-mail with the link included. Your eligibility for detailed access will be considered within a few hours (CET days). You will receive an e-mail when your access was approved or denied.

Are there any costs associated with registration?

Registration and usage of data is complimentary at the time of writing. We reserve the right to change this policy in future.

What is the Service Plan for registered users?

Please refer to the service plan overview

How can I purchase new credits or a subscription? What are the costs?

Please refer to the service plan overview

How can I receive a receipt? How is VAT calculated

A receipt (invoice) will be sent to your registered e-mail address after your payment was received. Receipts show 19% Germany VAT for customers inside Germany.
Customers within EU that provide a validated EU VAT-ID will receive an invoice according to the applicable EU VAT Reverse Charge ruling (no VAT).
State organizations without a validated EU VAT-ID will be charged local VAT according to MOSS procedure, however the product price will be adopted for 19% VAT to ease processing.
Other EU customers cannot be serviced.
Outside EU customers will receive a receipt without VAT.

Can I make use of compliance data for my project or business?

The display and usage of compliance data is subject to the terms of this service. This means that you have a private and personal complimentary license for usage. However, any other type of usage, i.e. for activities that are non-private, commercial or business by nature, is subject to an individual license agreement. Please contact as at adsb24@adsb24.com. We will be happy to support you.

I need extra detailed database analysis for specific fleets? How can I get that?
